First Appointment With Pediatrician
We took Philly to the pediatrician, who did a bilirubin test to check for jaundice, today. This is apparently standard procedure for newborns discharged less than 4 days after birth. Philomena’s levels are at 16, so we have to watch them closely and switch her over to formula so that she can get hydrated and pass the bilirubin from her system. This apparently happens because the liver function is the last thing to develop, and since she was 3.5 weeks early, it’s not quite ready to handle it solo yet.

Hello World!!
Kristi and I are very proud to announce that Philomena Aurelia Gianutsos was born on October 27, 2011 at 4:14 pm at 18 inches and 6 lbs, 4 ounces. She was born at North Shore LIJ, in Manhasset, NY.
Kristi thought that she would be quick to deliver, and was she ever right!! Within an hour or so of arriving at labor and delivery, she was in active labor and was soon in “booming labor”, (the anesthesiologist’s words) going from 3cm dilated at 100% effacement to 5cm to 10cm very rapidly.
Before we knew it, Philly was among us. She is sleeping in my arm as I type this… 🙂
Here are some pictures from the delivery room.
Enjoy!

It’s Showtime….
We are in labor and delivery right now. Kristi is at least 5 cm dilated. Checkup will happen soon. Delivery is coming soon.
The contractions coming here and once we got here were really painful and intense, but the epidural has been beautiful.
