    Hello World!!

Kristi and I are very proud to announce that Philomena Aurelia Gianutsos was born on October 27, 2011 at 4:14 pm at 18 inches and 6 lbs, 4 ounces.  She was born at North Shore LIJ, in Manhasset, NY.

Kristi thought that she would be quick to deliver, and was she ever right!!  Within an hour or so of arriving at labor and delivery, she was in active labor and was soon in “booming labor”, (the anesthesiologist’s words) going from 3cm dilated at 100% effacement to 5cm to 10cm very rapidly.

Before we knew it, Philly was among us.  She is sleeping in my arm as I type this… 🙂

Here are some pictures from the delivery room.

    Enjoy!

    It’s Showtime….

We are in labor and delivery right now. Kristi is at least 5 cm dilated. Checkup will happen soon. Delivery is coming soon.
The contractions coming here and once we got here were really painful and intense, but the epidural has been beautiful.

    Contractions

Kristi seems to be having a strange pattern of contractions.  Earlier this morning, it was every 4 minutes for about 20 minutes or so and then reduced to something like every 8 minutes.  Not sure what the deal is.  Waiting for the OB to call back.

    Another Sonogram

We just got back from the hospital. We had another sonogram. This time it was a BPP.  It was meant to check the health of the baby in light of all of the recent issues we have been having.

We found out that Philomena is now 5 lbs. 9 oz. A good size for a growing baby! Also, the amniotic fluid continues to be in plentiful supply. As a matter of fact the measurement has increased each time it has been taken the last three days.

Apparently, everything is fine. Still no definitive explanation of the leaking.  The outlook right now is to watch everything and see what happens. If the pattern persists as it has been it will be business as usual. If there are changes then we will have to investigate further. But as of now there is plenty of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby and she is doing well.

We have an appointment with the OB tomorrow which was regularly scheduled. Any news we get I will post.

Hopefully we can both get some sleep tonight.

Another Late Night at the Hospital

We arrived home late from the hospital again. This time we spent about three or four hours in a hospital room getting the same tests done as we did last night.

We found out that there is more amniotic fluid now than there was yesterday. Also the tests for leakage keep coming up negative.

As you can imagine, it is very frustrating not to have many answers. We are going for sonogram tomorrow which will hopefully check on the health of Philomena. We think that she is fine and all indications are that that’s the case.

Just Got Back From The Hospital

So, we went into the labor and delivery at the hospital on recommendation of the doctor. Kristi has been seeing a little bit of leakage. It could be amniotic fluid. The tests were negative tonight, but they seem to be thinking that there is a good chance that she has a “high leak.”

It appears that Kristi is dilated 1 cm and is 80% effaced.

The doctor does not think that she will go the full 40 weeks.  Whenever Philomena is ready to join us, we are ready.

We’ll keep you up-to-date. Check here for updates.

    More 3D Pictures

Kristi and I went back to Baby’s First Appearance in Port Jeff to get a retake on the 3D pictures from last weekend.  The ones from last week left a bit to be desired.  There are some super cute ones here, though.  Hands and feet and lips, oh my!

    Baby Shower

Today was Kristi’s baby shower.  What a wonderful time we both had.

It is always a humbling experience to be the object of so many people’s love.  The fact that so many of you were there to celebrate with us meant a lot to both of us, not to mention all of your generosity.

    Thank you all so much.

    Pictures to follow.
