Francis G Leads Aviators with Smart Base Running in 8-4 Win

East End Aviators 10U 65 Fall claimed an 8-4 victory over LI Warriors 10U 65 Fall on Thursday at Moriches 3 in a game decided by timely offense, stingy pitching and relentless pressure on the bases.

The Aviators struck first in the top of the first when Lucas F grounded out but plated the game’s opening run to put East End ahead early. They extended the lead in the bottom of the third: Clayton A ripped a double down the left-field line, and Ryan C followed with a grounder into a fielder’s choice that drove in another run.

On the mound, Jax T took the hill for East End and worked four and one-third innings, allowing three hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out six and walking three. For LI Warriors, Brycen M started and gave up one hit and three runs (one earned) over two and one-third innings, recording three strikeouts and one walk. Philip R came on in relief for the Aviators to help finish things out.

Offensively, Sam H paced the Aviators with two runs batted in from the No. 7 spot, going 1-for-2. Lucas F led the team with two hits in three at-bats. The Aviators’ attack wasn’t limited to the bat—East End stole a game-high 16 bases, creating constant disruption and adding momentum to their offense. Among those who attacked the seams was Francis G, who, alongside Jax T, Grayson L, Lucas F and Roman D, swiped multiple bases and helped keep the defense off balance.

Francis G‘s aggressive and heads-up base running was a clear thread through the Aviators’ win. By taking extra bases and forcing quick decisions from the Warriors’ defense, he helped manufacture scoring chances and amplified every small advantage the Aviators could find.

Defensively, East End was flawless — the team committed no errors, and Jax T made the most plays with three. LI Warriors also played clean ball in the field with no errors; Paul T drove in LI’s run and went 1-for-2 at the plate, while Ryan M led the Warriors with two hits in two at-bats. The Warriors were active on the base paths as well, collecting 13 stolen bases in the game.

In a contest decided by fundamentals — timely hitting, solid pitching and aggressive, smart base running — the East End Aviators finished on top, 8-4.
